There are a number of additional side orders which described below.
The Operatives, formally known as The Worshipful Society of Free Masons, Rough Masons, Wallers, Slaters, Paviors, Plaisterers and Bricklayers, is a Masonic society which preserves the traditions, symbolism and working practices of the old operative stonemasons’ guilds that existed before modern speculative Freemasonry. Its ceremonies are worked through a series of degrees based around the life and work of the operative mason. Membership is open to Master Masons, Mark Master Masons and Holy Royal Arch Companions in good standing. Promotion beyond the V° also requires having been installed as Master of a Craft Lodge and Master of a Mark Lodge.
The Masonic Order of Pilgrim Preceptors is an invitational Masonic Order based on the legendary journey of Freemasonry from Jerusalem to England. Candidates are admitted as Pilgrims, with further ceremonies explaining the journey from Jerusalem to Rome and from Rome to England. The Order’s motto is “Fraternity, Equality and Liberty.” Membership is usually open to those who are Past Masters in the Craft and Past First Principals in the Royal Arch.
The August Order of Light is an esoteric Masonic Order for Master Masons who are interested in the more spiritual, philosophical and mystical aspects of Freemasonry. Its teachings draw on symbolism, ancient wisdom traditions and moral instruction, while remaining linked to recognised Craft Freemasonry. Membership is open to Master Masons in good standing, and applicants are asked to provide evidence of Craft membership, such as a Master Mason’s certificate or current dues card.
Ye Antient Order of Noble Corks, often simply called “The Cork,” is an informal and light-hearted Masonic degree with a strong charitable focus. It has a nautical theme and is especially associated with raising money for charity, often children’s charities, through humorous fines and social meetings. Membership requirements vary by body, but candidates are commonly required to be Master Masons in good standing. Some branches may also require the candidate to be a Royal Arch Companion, a Craft Warden or Past Warden, or to have a connection with Mark Masonry.
The Ancient Masonic Order of Alfred the Great is an invitational Sovereign Masonic Order closely associated with the Masonic Order of Athelstan. It recognises meritorious service by members of the Order of Athelstan, and candidates are drawn exclusively from that Order. Membership is by invitation and is limited to members of the Masonic Order of Athelstan in recognition of service.
The Hermetic Order of Martinists is an esoteric Martinist Order connected with the wider Western mystical tradition. In the UK context, it is often considered among the more specialist or esoteric Masonic-related bodies rather than a mainstream side order. Membership is open only to Master Masons of a Lodge under UGLE, or under a Grand Lodge recognised as regular by UGLE.
The Hermetic Chapter of the Spiritual Knight is a very small and specialist esoteric body associated with the Martinist tradition. It would normally be shown as part of the esoteric branch of Masonic-related orders rather than among the better-known mainstream companion orders. Public information on entry requirements is limited, so it is best shown as linked beyond Martinist or esoteric Masonic membership rather than directly from Craft alone.
Ye Corporation O’ Squaremen is a Masonic-related order with a strong Scottish and Mark Masonry connection. It is organised in “Sheds” rather than lodges and uses operative-style symbolism, fellowship and charitable activity. Membership is commonly linked to Mark Masonry, and some Sheds state that candidates must be able to prove themselves Mark Master Masons in good standing.
Womens Orders
Women can also be freemasons however their orders are separated from mens. This is a historical and traditional characteristic of freemasonry. Details of these orders (associated with UGLE are below.

The Order of Women Freemasons is the oldest and largest Masonic organisation for women in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1908, it works along the lines of regular Freemasonry and follows the same broad principles of integrity, friendship, respect and service.
Although independent from UGLE, the Order is recognised by UGLE as one of the two leading women’s Grand Lodges in England and Wales. It offers women the opportunity to experience Freemasonry through ceremony, symbolism, personal development, charitable work and fellowship.

IFAF, also known as Freemasonry for Women, is a women’s Masonic fraternity founded in 1913. It is organised by women, for women, and welcomes women of good character who believe in a Supreme Being.
